JBR BEST WHIP FALL THROWDOWN
Crow Hill MX

Date: October 13th 2018

Location: Crow Hill Motorsports Park

Results:

1st Kyle Murdoch

2nd Seth Beaton

3rd Brandon Arnott

Every racer likes to have fun on their motorcycle, no doubt about it. This past year wasn’t just all about racing, it was about having good times and sending big booters.

On October 13, 2018, the JBR crew was at it again. Crow Hill Motorsports Park in Templeton, Massachusetts was the place to be that day. It all started out with the Ride4Cheese, a memorial ride day for Brian Thomas. From 10am-4pm, riders had the opportunity to shred with all the JBR boys on the motocross track before the big show that night. After the ride day was over, the crowd started flowing into the huge sand pit. Waves of fans all collecting in a pit of moto madness and roaring music from the Red Bull truck. Seth Beaton, Christian Martinez, and Kenny Haskell started the night off right with an insane freestyle show. Big tricks and backflips got the crowd right on their feet, and the cheers filled the air.

As the sun went down, the bonfires were lit up. Flames twenty feet high kept the crowd nice and toasty, right in the center of all the action. Families and friends lined the sand pit while the young kids ran around and played with their buddies. There wasn’t a single person in the pit without a smile on their face. Rider intro’s started going down, and everyone’s face lit up when they heard about the fourth gear wide open step up into the pitch black dark. Riders’ Nick Batten, Seth Beaton, Christian Martinez, Jake Abbott, Kyle Murdoch, Brandon Arnott, Alex Higley, Kenny Haskell and Dan Leclair soared through the air, throwing down some of the craziest whips New England has seen.

After the first round wrapped up, fans proceeded to meet and greet riders during the autograph session. A very important part of the night was the jersey raffle, which consisted of donated gear, and number plates. Jerseys from Cooper Webb, Aaron Plessinger, Jimmy Decotis, Kallib Russell, Doug Henry, Rj Hampshire, Chase Sexton and Jason Anderson were raffled off to raise money for the Brain Injury Association of America.

After the closing of raffle ticket sales, The Jones Bro Ridas raised a grand total of $1200.00 for the donation. The night still wasn’t done yet. It was about 8pm and the final round of Best whip was going down. All the riders pushed their limits, going backwards and upside down through the night sky. Kyle Murdoch took the big win on the night, Seth Beaton finish it up in second and Brandon Arnott rounded out the top three. Amazing event all around. Good vibes filled the entire facility and everyone was stoked at the end of the day. Nick Batten and the rest of the JBR Crew did a killer job on hosting this event.

The Jones Bros Ridas Best Whip contest is like no other dirt bike based event here in New England. Nick Batten and his squad of friends put on a great event where they bring the moto community together to display their talents on a ramp. This last summer was the first time I have ever been to one of these events and the atmosphere was electric. Hemond’s Mx Park located in Minot, ME seems to be everybody’s favorite place. Great tracks, great events, and great people running the venue makes for endless fun on the weekends here.

This particular weekend was the JBR best whip contest so I figured I would drive up and check it out. As the day faded away, we sopped riding the tracks and turned our attention on the JBR boys as they began warming up. I made my way over to the event area and crowds of people were slowly but surely starting to form. It only took a few warm up runs before the place was scattered with fans and fellow dirt bike enthusiasts. I was shocked with how big of a turn out there was. I kept thinking to myself “Wow, these guys are killing it.” Their following was larger than I had anticipated and it was quite impressive to say the least.

Nick was running the show and he did a really great job doing so. The guy was first one to set up and the last to pick up; the dude is dedicated. Before I knew it Nick was on the mic hyping everyone up as the riders prepared for the contest. A few riders involved were of course Nick Batten, Seth Beaton, Jake Abbott, Brandon Arnott, Adam Bernard, Cody Williams, Kyle Murdock, and Kevin Hill to name a few. From kids to adults, everyone was excited to see the boys fly. With live music as well as an appearance from the Red Bull DJ truck, the environment was vivacious.

The contest itself was great. All of the guys who rode did amazing and the crowd roared with excitement. Adults and children all seemed to be wide-eyed and in awe at the skills these boys showed on their bikes.

The whips and flips were sick and the people loved it. Everyone rode great and the main event was amazing. The guys threw down and the firework show added to the excitement. I felt like a little kid again, seeing the bikes flying and pyrotechnics in the background made me remember why I love dirt bikes so much. The show was spectacular and definitely a crowd pleaser. After the top three were announced, Nick and the boys did a product toss for the young crowd and then returned to their pit area for autographs. The JBR boys made sure the younger kids had the opportunity to meet all of the riders and get their autographs. All of the riders in the event were fun to talk with and encouraged the fans to take pictures and sit on their bikes. I could tell the JBR guys wanted the fans to feel welcomed and to not hesitate to go and simply talk dirt bikes with them. After all, aren’t dirt bikes why we gather to events like this? It’s the common ground that builds camaraderie and life-long friendships at tracks and events like this.

Overall, I had an amazing time and I made sure I returned to the next event at MX207. I encourage every motorcycle enthusiast to go check out the JBR Best Whip Contest. It is a welcoming and fun environment for kids and adults to see what these guys can do on their bikes. Nick Batten puts these shows on and it’s on his own dime. He and his friends do what they love and want the opportunity to show people what JBR is all about. Come out next summer and support JBR Best Whip in 2019!
